Fort Worth pair sentenced over prison drug smuggling

DALLAS (AP) - An investigation into drug smuggling to inmates -- sometimes involving loaned library books -- means prison for a Fort Worth couple.
Authorities say drugs turned up in the spines of some books or in the shipping cartons.
Edmond Wright, 34, has been sentenced to 30 years in federal prison.
A judge yesterday also sentenced Wright's girlfriend, Sherry Mathews, 42, to five years in prison.
Both were convicted in April of conspiracy to possess with the intent to distribute methamphetamine.
Wright also was convicted of attempting to possess contraband in prison. M
athews was convicted of attempting to provide contraband in prison.
Wright, who was serving time for two other convictions, now must serve a total of 48 years. He's already served a decade.
Wright in 2005 was an inmate at the Federal Correctional Institute in Seagoville when he worked in the unit's education department.
